Q: Does my child have to take an ENTRANCE EXAM?

As part of the application process, all students applying to the ninth grade at Trinity Catholic High School must take the entrance exam.  The entrance exam will be administered at Trinity Catholic High School on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 8:00 A.M.  The alternate date for the exam is Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 8:00 A.M.   


Q: How do I register for the Entrance Exam?

To register for the exam, a parent/guardian must complete the “Application for Admissions” form and send it to the Trinity Catholic Admissions Office with the $50.00 non-refundable application fee. Q: What test is used for the entrance exam?

8th grade students will take the EXPLORE exam.   In the 10th grade, students take the PLAN exam.   Each assessment will provide an individual performance data profile that will be utilized for student placement,  to celebrate and monitor the progress of student learning, and to indicate where instruction needs to be modified.  In the 11th-12th grade, students take the ACT exam which measures what students have learned, and increases college readiness when used with the EXPLORE and PLAN exams.   


Q: Are any SCHOLARSHIPS available?

Academic Scholarships - President’s and Principal’s
These scholarships are awarded to a select number of students who attain the highest scores on the entrance exam, or have achieved high academic standing in their current schools.  To be considered for one of the above scholarships, your child MUST take the entrance exam at Trinity Catholic High School on either Saturday, October 29, 2011 or on the alternate test date, Saturday, November 19, 2011.  

William Nayden Memorial Scholarship
This $5,000 scholarship is awarded to an incoming student based on financial need, middle school records, entrance exam results, essay and letter of recommendation.


Q: What RECORDS does Trinity Catholic High School need?

As part of the application process, your child’s school records, from the 6th through 8th grade, are required.   The “Release of Records Authorization” form is provided for this purpose.


Q: When will Trinity Catholic High School mail DECISION LETTERS?

Decision letters will be mailed beginning December 15, 2011.   


Q: What is the NEXT STEP after my child receives an acceptance letter?

In order to hold your child’s place in the freshmen class for the school year 2012-2013, your child must be registered by February 7, 2012.  Acceptance letters will include information regarding registering.  


Q: How do I apply for FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?

Financial aid applications will be available at the Open House on October 20, 2011 or, upon request, mailed to you.  You are encouraged to file a financial aid application in order to be considered for any financial (tuition) assistance.  Your financial aid application must be mailed, or submitted on line to FACTS (Financial Aid Assessment Service) by the deadline date of December 17, 2011.   Financial aid is awarded to families considered to have the greatest financial need based on the information provided to FACTS.  Please call the Admissions office at 203-322-3401, ext. 16 if you have any questions.
