Drew Schemera was a member of the last graduating class of Stamford Catholic High School in 1991 and played football and ice hockey for the Crusaders. Drew was a great competitor who fought a courageous battle against ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) but unfortunately passed away on April 7, 2009 at the age of 36.  After his passing, one of Drew's classmates, Gregg Smyth, approached the school seeking a way to honor his close friend.  Trinity Catholic's administration and athletic department proposed a renovation of the existing weight room into a modern fitness center that would benefit Trinity's sports teams and students.  Gregg was presented with this idea and agreed to take on the challenge of raising funds for the project.  In a short period of time over $36,000 was raised thanks to the generosity of Drew's classmates, Trinity alumni, friends, and the Schemera family.  Trinity graduate David Arana was instrumental in designing the center as an independent study course while attending college.  The entire facility was completed in December of 2012 and The Drew Schemera Fitness Center was officially dedicated in May of 2013.
