Creating a resume is a very important part of the college application process, as well as an important part of life! A resume is essentially a list of of your education experiences, accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and job positions. When asking teachers for a letter of recommendation you will have to provide them with your resume. Your counselor also needs a copy of your resume. Additionally, colleges like to know this information about you so that they can get a better sense of who you are beyond your grades and test scores. A resume is also often required for job applications.
There are several ways you can get started with your resume. Here are some suggestions:
1. You can attend a resume workshop that the counseling department will offer this year on Monday, February 27th @ 2:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, March 28th at 2:00 p.m.
2. You can get your resume started through Naviance. Naviance has a resume section that will walk you through the completion of a resume while also offering you tips and suggestions.
3. You can use one of the four sample resume templates provided here to get started.
We encourage you to speak with your counselor along the way as they can assist you in offering insight and suggestions. Please meet with your counselor to discuss and review your resume.
